Inclusive education and the Three Block Model of Universal Design of Learning (UDL)

Her work as an advocate of inclusive education and Universal Design for Learning (UDL) has spanned several countries within universities, schools professional workshops as well as parent advocacy groups and most importantly, direct work with children and youth. She created the Three Block Model of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) which is now being implemented by school divisions across Canada as a framework for inclusive education.

The Three Block Model of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) is an educational framework that provides a holistic approach to creating inclusive classrooms by focusing on three distinct yet interconnected «blocks»: Social & Emotional Learning, Inclusive Instructional Practice, and Systems & Structures. This model aims to foster student well-being, academic achievement, and belonging by cultivating compassionate learning communities, implementing diverse and engaging teaching methods, and establishing supportive systems within schools.

During her visit at HfH she recounts her experiences working with Canadian schools and shares her thoughts on which guiding principles she believes are particularly important in order to create «a school for all».
